Electrical Engineering, Design, and Construction Assistance services to provide Power and Power Distribution Systems, including Essential electrical systems with Life Safety, Critical, and Equipment Branches, Interior Lighting, Exterior Lighting, Lighting Control, Voice/Data Local Area Network (LAN), Structured Cabling, Fire Alarm, Public Address, Central Clock, Security Camera, Access Control, Emergency Call, Nurse Call, Code Blue, Paging, and Intercom Systems for County of Los Angeles Olive View / UCLA Medical Center new Emergency Department and Acute Care Unit, Sylmar, CA.
This project was for the new Emergency Room and the Acute Care Unit expansions. The 43,000 square-foot expansion replaced the existing Emergency Department that was deemed inadequate to service the needs of the County. The new emergency department building houses: 51 exam rooms, a radiology suite with fluoroscopy, general radiology and CT scan rooms, registration and support areas. Adjacent to the new emergency department, the 11,000 square-foot acute care unit includes 15 negative pressure isolation rooms and is dedicated to providing needed services for drug-resistant tuberculosis patients and those under detention orders. The project also included the proposed bioterrorism response unit to serve the County in the event of an outbreak of a deadly biological substance. The new emergency services building connects to the north side of the main hospital. The scope of work in this project was also included parking expansions, med gas upgrades, utility reroutes, NPC 4 Upgrades to Central Plant.
The project’s construction budget was $53M.
